What is Cinco De Mayo?
Cinco De Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The Mexican victory provided encouragement to the Mexican army and became a source of pride for the Mexican people. In the United States, Cinco De Mayo has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture.
How We Celebrate?
Today people of all backgrounds celebrate the holiday with parades, parties, traditional Mexican music, dancing, and food. This year was no different and the amount of people that poured into the Eagle River Center on Sunday told a story that they were ready to celebrate. Although we didn’t capture the whole event (we’ll be sure to next year) we did enter our beloved Bentley into the Chihuahua race. Heres some footage of how the lil’ guy did.
The 2nd annual Chihuahua race, sponsored by Holy Cross Energy is gaining in popularity. In only it’s 2nd season it had 24 entries. We’re proud of Bentley and the way he raced his little butt off. Can’t wait until next year!!
