So the boss puts you in charge of planning the annual company party.  This isn’t a task that you can simply shrug off.  There’s alot of hard work, planning, managing, wishing, and praying involved.  And what’s at stake?  Your reputation of being a person that can get the job done in the eyes of your co-workers and peers.   At first you’re excited, then you’re nervous, then you’re flat out scared.  Where do you begin? What theme do you pick?  Where do you get all the supplies?  Luckily there is a local party store to help make your event a slam dunk.  Introducing Goofballs Party Store.

Goofballs is family owned and operated by Randy & BJ DeHerrera and is located in the Glenwood Mall in beautiful Glenwood Springs.  Goofballs is commited to providing customers with the party supplies needed to make any special event fun and successful.  As soon as you walk in the doors you see balloons, pinatas, napkins, plates, costumes, cups, catering supplies, etc.  All these items are well-organized so it’s easy to stay on track with the theme of your party.  They have supplies for any time of the year whether it’s the Superbowl, Halloween, St. Patty’s Day, corporate event, or just a family gathering.  What I was really impressed with was the customer service I received.  I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for or even where to start so BJ walked me around the entire store to come up with ideas about the direction I could head for my party.  I recently got a chance to sit down with Randy and BJ and chat a little bit about the store.

Ty: Tell me about your “ah ha” moment?  In other words, the time you decided that opening a party store was something you wanted to pursue?

Randy: Prior to opening Goofballs, we volunteered to help out the New Castle Bowling Alley with a Luau themed event.  Time was not on our side and since there were no party stores in Glenwood Springs we had to travel all the way to Grand Junction to find any Luau themed party supplies.  In the time it took us to drive to Grand Junction and back we both knew that opening Goofballs in Glenwood Springs was what we wanted to do.  By the way, the party store in Grand Junction has since closed.

Ty: Who came up with the name Goofballs?

BJ: Randy gets credit for the name.  We wanted the name to be very unique, fun, and something people will not forget.

Ty: Do you consider yourselves to be goofballs?

BJ: Yes, absolutely we are goofballs…who isn’t?  LOL.

Ty: Since opening your doors, what has the response been like?

Randy: The community has been fantastic.  We always hear “Thank you for being here” or “We really needed this in our community.”

Ty: What inspires you to keep pushing forward?

BJ: We love people and our community.  The smiles on our customers faces make it all worth it.  One of the many benefits of owning a party store is consulting, offering ideas, and placing special orders to customers to make their party special.

Ty: Craziest/Wackiest moment at Goofballs thus far?

Randy: We had Miles, the Denver Broncos mascot, for a day back in May 2016 and he made his entrance on a hover board while people were waiting for his appearance.  It was awesome!!!

Ty: What ideas pop in your mind late at night that you have to start working on immediately?

BJ: New patterns, new items, what our customers may like, and order pick-ups the next day.

Ty: What’s the price range of products at Goofballs?

BJ: Items in the store range from .49¢ – $500.

Ty: Favorite part about owning/operating Goofballs?

Randy: There are so many good things about owning Goofballs Party Store.  Our favorites are helping the community with their event needs, meeting new people every day, and having the ability to make our own business decisions.

Ty: In three words describe your product offering?

BJ:  Event. Party. Supplies

Ty: Can customers purchase items online?

Randy: Yes, we have various means for purchasing besides the store location.  Customers can order from our WebsiteFacebook, or over the phone (970-945-5115).

Ty: Are there any people you’d like to thank for your success?

BJ: We would like to thank our community from Vail to Grand Junction and beyond for their continued support.
